I disabled live tiles and enabled the removal of notifications on logoff via local GPO with no effect. I asked the generic Lenovo support, but they don't seem to have more information on this. This makes me believe that the AppGroup comes from somewhere else. Since I removed the LayoutModification.xml from C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell, the Lenovo group should no longer be appended to new user profiles' start menus.Įven if I edit the file in the above location and replace the groupname and app, it does not seem to take any effect. I agree that this behaviour is extremely strange and unexpected.
